This is a watercolor I did in Brent Laycock's class at the Leighton centre. It is of my parents property in Priddis Alberta.

Japanese ink painting

I figured it's about time I made some posts. Ever since I got my paint brushes back from Japan this december I've been a bit more motivated to fool around with some Japanese paintings. I've been trying some of the techniques explained by Naomi Okamoto in her book Japanese ink painting and I hope to do a whole lot more. I've found so far it makes a whole lot of difference having good supplies - the right paint, brushes and paper really do work wonders. Here are some samples of some things I've done.

This weeks illustrations are based on the book "Little Raccoon and the Thing in the Pool" by Lilian Moore. It's about a little raccoon who learned that the best way to deal with the scary "thing in the pool" was to smile and laugh at it.
